4-Love wins top $1,000 prize at 4th Annual Multicultural Exhibition

Thomas Mann, Executive Director of The Pawtucket Foundation, presents a $1,000 cash prize to Saberah Malik at the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative 4th Annual Multicultural Exhibition

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative (PAC) presented the 4th Annual Multicultural Art Exhibition last week with a festive opening reception and the announcement of two juried prizes: The $1,000 Pawtucket Foundation Prize and a new Pawtucket Arts Collaborative cash prize.

Saberah Malik garnered top honors for her work “4-Love.” Thomas Mann, Executive Director of The Pawtucket Foundation presented the prestigious $1,000 prize. “Art is a cornerstone for a new economic engine in the Downtown,” said Mann as he presented the award, “since we started the Pawtucket Foundation Prize, we’ve seen the quality of work in this exhibit really elevated. Quality art, culture and activities are an important draw for Downtown Pawtucket as we seek to promote living, working and visiting this beautiful, historic city.”

Tamara Diaz won the new PAC award for her painting, “The Drop.” A total of 19 local artists were selected for the exhibit by jurors, Sue Caroll of the Chazen Gallery and Susan Dowling from Art 21.

The exhibit was coordinated by PAC board director, Holly Gaboriault. The exhibit is currently on display until June 25 at the PAC Gallery at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center, 175 Main Street, Pawtucket.
