The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council welcomed the unofficial start of summer with nearly 200 passengers enjoying the first of Citizens Bank Free Sundays on the River with a leisurely river cruise aboard the Blackstone Valley Explorer.
Patti McAlpine, Blackstone River Education Coordinator for the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council says, “This is a great way to start off the 2010 River Tour Season.” McAlpine credits the weather, holiday weekend and the free cruises underwritten by Citizens Bank Foundation for the success of the Tourism Council’s first weekend on the river.
This is the fourth year that Citizens Bank Foundation has awarded funding to the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council to provide these Free Sundays on the River once a month and allowing many more residents from the local community to participate in these programs.
“The Citizens Bank Foundation is proud to support the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, said Ned Handy, President, Citizens Bank, Rhode Island. “These free educational river rides are a fun way for families to explore one of our state’s greatest treasurers.”
