“Pawtucket Rising,” the documentary film detailing the revitalization of the city of Pawtucket, will begin airing on Capitol Television in March, announced Rep. Peter F. Kilmartin (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket).
The film will first air on Sunday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. and will continue to air throughout the month of March. Capitol Television programming can be seen on Channel 15 on Cox Cable of Rhode Island and Channel 34 on Verizon cable network.
Outlining the history of the city’s revival, “Pawtucket Rising” features:
- Rhode Island Commercial Industrial Realty, a private company working to revitalize space to rent out to artists.
- Hope Artiste Village, a project featuring a restaurant, retail space, industrial space and live/work space all in one large building.
- The Foundry Artists Show, an example of the many arts-related shows that have moved to Pawtucket because of the arts-friendly atmosphere.
- Pawtucket Open Studios, which showcases the artists of Pawtucket and revitalized mills several times a year.
- Jacqueline M. Walsh High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the city’s newest high school dedicated to the arts.
The documentary airing on Sunday also features interview segments with filmmaker Jason Caminiti in which Representative Kilmartin reflects upon the General Assembly’s passage of tax credits that allowed for the emergence of Pawtucket’s vibrant arts scene.
“This is an exciting opportunity to showcase all that Pawtucket has to offer,” said Representative Kilmartin. “By watching this program, Rhode Islanders will learn about and hopefully benefit from the various steps our city has taken to create this remarkable rebirth.”
Filmmaker Jason Caminiti is an award winning Public Access Television Show host. Born and raised in Newport, Rhode Island, he is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
