PROVIDENCE, R.I., February 12, 2010 – For the second year, Save The Bay hosts Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival’s stop in Rhode Island and neighboring Connecticut, February 25-28, 2010. The festival features films that inspire environmental activism by tackling hard-hitting topics such as public access, water supply, wilderness preservation, and telling stories about the magnificent wonders of our Earth.
This year Save The Bay will host viewings at three separate venues in Providence, Newport and Stonington, Conn. Tickets are available for $10.00 at www.savebay.org/WildScenicFilms, or at the door.
Established by the California-based South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL), the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival helps promote community building as well as a way to explore environmental issues through an exciting and influential medium. The films are exceptionally fitting for Save The Bay’s year-long 40th Anniversary celebration.
“These films will entertain, inspire, and empower. It is our hope that this film festival will also reinforce a commitment to stewardship. All of us share the responsibility to Narragansett Bay and its surrounding waters,” said Jonathan Stone, Save The Bay’s Executive Director. “It is a pleasure to sponsor such a prestigious event which not only educates viewers of all ages, but encourages participants to make our world a better place”.
