Autistic License is a surprisingly funny, heartbreakingly tragic, authentically surreal and unflinchingly honest play which offers a glimpse of the rewards and struggles of raising a child with autism. TYPICAL IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!  Autism may be the vehicle that drives this theatrical piece, but the true message of the play speaks to anyone who thought their life was going in one direction, only to find themselves on a completely unintended journey.

Autistic License will be playing nation wide as a part of JFCS’s Jewish Disability Awareness Month kickoff event.  The cities (to date) are: Minneapolis, MN; Detroit, MI; Atlanta, GA; and Providence, RI.   Autistic License will also be screened in several more cities, including Toronto, ON, Eden Prairie, MN, and Philadelphia, PA, during April, AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH.  Last April, Rochester, MN had over 2,500 people show up at their two presentations, and Prior Lake, MN had over 800 people show up in one evening.

Autistic License has been named THE Official Educational Category Feature Selection for the International Family Film Festival in Los Angeles, March, 2010. The MN State Dept of Education suggests that all 316 school districts in the state consider utilizing Autistic License as a vehicle for awareness, and encourages all other 49 states’ Departments of Education to do the same.

Autistic License will also be broadcast on TPT at the end of April, 2010, as a feature for TPT’s Autism Film Festival in honor of Autism Awareness Month.
