The Miss RI Scholarship Program and RI’s Outstanding Teen  are now accepting applications for the state finals which are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 22 & 23, 2010 at RIC, Sapinsly Hall in Providence . Miss RI Scholarship Program is the official state preliminary to the Miss America Program as RI’s Outstanding Teen is the official preliminary to America’s Outstanding Teen.  Our Programs award several thousand dollars in scholarships to both Miss RI and RI’s Outstanding Teen. Our Scholarship awards will also go to the runners up, top talent and interview winners and several non?finalist awards will be granted. 

Scholarships go directly to the student’s college. Contestants who are just graduating from high school may use the award for seat deposits, college application fees, tuition, or books.  Students may also use their awards for graduate school test (LSAT, GRE, etc.)  There is no entry fee.  

Women interested in entering the scholarship programs must be a U.S. citizen, at least 13 years of age for Outstanding Teen, and for Miss RI, 17 years of age, a high school graduate no later than six months after the date of the competition.  She must be at least a six-month resident of the state of Rhode Island, or attend a college in Rhode Island, or work full-time in Rhode Island. The maximum age to participate in the pageant is no more than 24 years old on December 31, 2008.

Emily Luther,  RI’s Outstanding Teen 2009, who was also recognized as the Talent Scholarship winner at America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, will crown her successor in May.

Julianna Strout, Miss RI 2009, will compete for Miss America on January 30, 2010. So watch her on TLC!
