PAWTUCKET, RI – Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) is seeking interested candidates for several spring semester internship positions in his district office located at 249 Roosevelt Avenue in Pawtucket. Interns are given the opportunity to learn first-hand about working in a Congressional Member’s office through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, policy research, constituent affairs, and media relations.
“The internship provides students with a unique perspective of how Congress and our government operate,” said Kennedy. “Interns assist us in various capacities, and it is a highly educational and rewarding experience.”
Congressman Kennedy’s internship program is run through the Rhode Island State Government Internship Program. Under the provisions of the state program, interns are asked to work 8-10 hours per week. Eligible candidates must be students at least in their second year at a two-year college or have junior or senior status at a four-year college. Students must have a 2.5 grade point average or higher to participate in the state program.
Interested applicants may submit applications to the Rhode Island program office and can find information at http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/Intern/.
