Providence, RI - The Citizens Bank Foundation recently granted $17,500 to Day One to support Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), which takes place throughout December. Day One’s mission is to reduce the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence, and to support and advocate for those affected by it. Day One’s luncheon “Fairer Skies: Global Challenges, Local Opportunities” is a featured event that promotes their vision of creating a community that is free of sexual abuse and violence through leadership and action. Annually, this luncheon brings to light the challenges faced by victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and other violent crimes. This year’s keynote speaker was New York Times Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Nicholas D. Kristof, author of the bestseller Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. The event was held at the Rhode Island Convention Center on December 10.
