Pawtucket, RI - Lincoln resident, Marcia Carr-Carvalho, registered nurse at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, was honored recently by The Hospital Association of Rhode Island (HARI) at the 20th Annual Celebration of Excellence in Hospital Care awards ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza, Warwick, RI.
Marcia was one of ten healthcare professionals from throughout the state to be honored. Marcia has been an employee of the hospital for the past 35 years. She started her career in 1974, and has functioned in many roles since then. She was a staff nurse on Wood 6, Pediatrics, Float Pool, ICU/CCU, triage nurse in Internal Medicine and now the Employee Health Nurse. Marcia is actively involved with the Rhode Island Department of Health. She attends hearings and brings back the rules and regulations regarding immunizations for direct healthcare workers. She leads the hospital Influenza Work Group and assures that all employees are offered the vaccine. This year, she administered 1,083 vaccines to employees. Marcia is also an active member of the hospital’s Safe Patient Handling Committee.
Marcia was also named Employee of the Year and Nurse of the Year. HARI recognized people from all fields who demonstrated exemplary job performance, dedication and team effort.
