Hunt Yachts Introduces 3 NEW MODELS for 2010: The Coupe Hardtops 29, 33, & 36

Portsmouth, Rhode Island, USA – In a market where most boatbuilders have scaled back on new model introductions, Hunt Yachts greets 2010 with three new hardtop coupes, each built on highly-acclaimed and proven deep-V hulls designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates. This Coupe series is initially being introduced for 3 designated models – the Surfhunter 29, the Surfhunter 33 and the Harrier 36. A Surfhunter 29 Coupe was launched mid-summer in Newport Harbor, participating throughout the sailing season as a frequently admired chase boat for several major sailing competitions and will be followed by 2 Harrier 36 Coupes, the first of which is to be launched in the Bahamas in November.
Adding the Coupe line at Hunt Yachts is a response to owners and admirers of the original, award-winning express line of Surfhunters and Harriers, requesting more all-weather/all-climates treatment in the bridgedeck area. Adding a hardtop and side windows allow those at the helm and in the settee area to be more cosseted in an air-conditioned (or heated) area extending not only the Coupe’s cruising capability but also adding days to the boating season. Ray Hunt, grandson of the legendary C. Raymond Hunt and Director of Manufacturing and Engineering at Hunt Yachts, said “we are continually in dialogue with our customers to be sure that we are delivering models that best suit their specifications and lifestyles.”
The Coupe’s hardtops, which can include an optional sliding sunroof (twin opening hatches are standard), provide complete weather protection, increase the privacy of the bridgedeck areas, allow overhead interior lighting and provide rooftop stowage for kayaks or other water toys. In addition to the overhead openings, the side windows slide open for exceptional natural ventilation. And handrails along with a wide sidedeck make passage to/from the bow safer and more secure.
The interior of the Coupe’s enclosed bridgedeck is richly and warmly finished in wood. With large tempered glass windshields on 3 sides, bright, clean visibility for captain and passengers is superb; sightlines are ideal, whether underway or in-port. The layout varies by model size but all three Coupes are offered with a standard L-settee to Port, streaming aft from a companion seat, with a helm station to Starboard.
The semi-custom build of a Hunt allows owners the flexibility to layout each of these models in a manner which accommodates lifestyle and function; with standard layout providing overnight cruising capacity for owners and guests/family with a richly finished master cabin, extra height standup head with a shower option and spacious dinette area that converts to extra bunk.
Also shared by all three new Hunt Yachts is their outstanding operating performance. The hulls run quietly even under conditions where other boats are pounding, noticeably drier as their authentic Hunt lines keep windshields and passengers spray-free, and very efficiently with low fuel consumption even at higher speeds. With standard power, these boats can cruise all day at 24 knots and top out over 30: optional power, which can include waterjets or IPS drives, can raise these numbers significantly.
