RI Athletes to Compete in Special Olympics Nationals
Lincoln Nebraska to host games in 2010

(Pawtucket, Rhode Island)  Four local athletes have been selected to compete in the April 2010 Special Olympics National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska.

To celebrate and help raise funds for this event, all four special athletes will attend a Special Olympics Fundraiser Event this Saturday in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

The public will have the unique opportunity to meet these determined individuals and their families while raising money to meet the expense of representing Rhode Islanders in the National Spotlight.

A silent auction courtesy of local business is planned, dining is available, and music will be provided by The Sanford Grey Band; Jan Schmidt and The Original Sinners and Steve Smith and The Nakeds.

“We expect a memorable performance by all involved” said Jan Schmidt, lead singer of The Original Sinners.  “This is a chance to show support for special athletes chosen on their merits who are going to represent Rhode Island on a national stage.  I think everyone should come and encourage them and their families.  I for one look forward to meeting them!”

The event starts at 3pm on Saturday, November 21st at The Blackstone (Hope Artiste Village) at 1005 Main Street in Pawtucket, RI.  Dining is available and $15 donations requested will help pay for travel expenses for this event.
