Free Tours aboard the Blackstone Valley Explorer Cancelled Sunday, August 30 2009
Unsafe River Conditions Expected from Impact of Tropical Storm Danny and Citizens Bank Free Sundays on River is Once Again Postponed to Sunday September 6 Labor Day Weekend

Central Falls, RI – August 28, 2009 -   Citizens Bank Free Sundays on the River scheduled for Sunday, August 30 have to be cancelled due to expected unsafe river conditions due to impacts from Tropical Storm Danny .  “Due to heavy rains expected and the potential for flooding on the Blackstone, river conditions may preclude safe operation of the Explorer.”  stated Robert Billington, President of BVTC. “Safety is first and foremost for our passengers in making the decision to cancel and and once again another bout of wet weather has precluded safe boat operations.”

However, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and Citizens Bank Foundation announce that there will be two opportunities in September to take advantage of the Citizens Bank Free Sundays on the River -  Sunday,  September, 6 just in time for Labor Day Weekend event planning and Sunday, September 27.
Tours depart on the hour at 1, 2, 3 & 4 pm every Sunday from the Central Falls Landing at the corner of Broad Street and Madeira Avenue.   Ticket prices for our regular Sunday tours are $10.00/adults, $8.00/seniors and children 12 & under.  The Blackstone Valley Explorer, a 49-passenger riverboat, is also available for special charters, summer camp programs, and senior groups.  In addition to our regular Sunday tours, we will be adding two public tours on Saturday  September 12 at 1 & 2 pm and will be offering a special Twilight Cruise in partnership with Audubon Society of Rhode Island on Friday, September 11 at 6:00 pm.
