Anatomy of a Portrait: Lecture and Demonstration

Feeling creative this summer?  The Riverside Branch Library, 475 Bullocks Point Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915 is delighted to present local portrait artist Margaret Owen who will give a slide lecture and demonstration on Monday August 17, 2009 at 6:30PM.   The talk will examine portraits by artists over time with an emphasis on contemporary artists.  As she explains each slide, Ms. Owen will point out its underlying structure as well as how the artist expressed his own vision through his handling of light, form and color.   Her demonstration of painting, drawing and basic artistic skills will make the portrait process become transparent.

In addition to years of professional experience painting portraits, Margaret Owen holds a masters degree in painting from the New York Academy of Art, one of the few schools in the world to offer a vigorous classical education in figurative art.
