Blackstone Valley Media Design Competition – 2009
The Blackstone Valley Tourism Collaborative is looking for creative talent to help it do the best possible job promoting the heritage and attractions of the Blackstone Valley. The Collaborative is using a design competition to identify individuals and agencies it and other Valley organizations can work with from time to time to promote the many things the Valley has to offer, from historic sites and museums to outdoor recreation, cultural festivals and ethnic cuisines. The competition will focus on an initial project, the production of a web page and a 15 second television spot promoting an upcoming television broadcast. The Collaborative is offering a $2,000 prize for the winner, as well as four $100 runner-up cash awards.
Competitors will be asked to produce designs to promote an upcoming broadcast series about the National Parks System and, at the same time, highlight the fact that we have parts of that system in our own backyard: the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor and the Roger Williams National Memorial. The media package will not only encourage viewers to watch the broadcast, but also prompt them to learn more about the story of the region and how to experience it for themselves. For consideration, entries must meet professional standards.
Interested parties with the requisite know-how and, above all, creative ideas are invited to join us on August 3 at 1pm, at the offices of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission at 1 Depot Square, Woonsocket, RI for the competition briefing.
On August 17 at 1pm, completed product presentations will be made in a public forum.
On August 20 at 1pm, the winning entry and the four runners-up will be announced by representatives of the Tourism Collaborative at 1 Depot Square, Woonsocket, RI. At this time, the cash prizes will be presented, along with the 2009 Blackstone Valley Tourism Media Design trophy, going to the first place winner.
Winning presentations become the sole property of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Collaborative, inclusive of all rights and consigns. The winning entry will be shown on television. The winner and runner-ups will be asked to collaborate with us and/or our partners on future projects.
