PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Julie Casimiro has joined Children’s Friend in Providence as Director of Advancement, it was announced by the agency’s Executive Director, David Caprio.

In her new role, Casimiro is responsible for developing and coordinating all aspects of the agency’s development plan, including donor relationships, marketing, public relations, communications and foster parent recruitment.

Prior to joining Children’s Friend, Casimiro was Director of Product Marketing at MetLife Auto & Home, where she developed a comprehensive customer relationship strategy that included building strong customer relationships to drive sales and retention.  Casimiro also spent several years on the Board of Directors for Children’s Friend in leadership roles successfully co-chairing their annual Investing in our Children Corporate Luncheon for several years and, most recently, chairing the development committee.

“We are delighted that Julie has joined the senior management team at Children’s Friend,” said Caprio. “Her experience and dedication to the agency as well as her strong marketing background and relationship building skills will serve this agency well as we continue to advance our crucial mission of promoting the well-being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children. In these trying economic times, when federal and state funding decisions can have an increasingly negative impact on at-risk children, it is more important than ever to cultivate support from the business and private sectors so that we can continue to overcome challenges and make lasting improvements in the lives of children.”

Casimiro received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Providence College.  She resides in North Kingstown.

A non-profit organization founded in 1834, Children’s Friend is Rhode Island’s oldest child welfare organization and a leading provider of child welfare, family support, mental health, and youth development services. Children’s Friend served more than 17,500 of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children and their families in 2008. The agency’s programs range from Adoption, Foster Care, Birth Parent Counseling, Child Care, and Adoption Support and Preservation to Dads Making A Difference, Early Head Start, Head Start, Early Intervention, Family Counseling and Project Connect. In 2009, Children’s Friend celebrates its 175th anniversary with events and programs designed to honor its heritage, highlight its work, and build upon past accomplishments.
