LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Once again this year our family has been blessed with friends who champion our cause as we continue to raise money for us to battle the life threatening disease cystic fibrosis, which affects our 21-year-old son Benjamin.
On Saturday, May 2nd family and friends once again came together for the 8th Annual Pasta Dinner for the Friends of Cystic Fibrosis and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We are please to announce that an all time record of over $2,000 was raised at the pasta dinner. This year, in these hard times, it was difficult for companies to donate to the event yet there were several businesses that are true champions to the cystic fibrosis cause and they are Helping Hands, Inc., Homestead Bakery, Gem Ravioli, Inc. and Cross Country Cookie. Our family would like to personally thank these three great local businesses and urge all our friends to remember them when doing their shopping.
We would like to send a special thank you to the Walter Gatchell Post for once again making this event our best ever. Without your participation, again, this year’s dinner would have never taken place.
We would like to also thank all those who volunteered at the dinner including: Joe (the Pieman) Sadlier, Richard Goldstein (best spaghetti slopper in the state), Larry Monastesse, Mary Golden, Russ McGill, Lynn and Katrina Fernandes and last but never least Ben’s grandparents, Raymond and Gail McGill who would go to the ends of this earth to see this disease eradicated.
We would also like to thank each and every person who came to the dinner or sent a donation. It is not always easy asking for money from your friends until you realize just how blessed you truly are by the people around you. Over the years we have realized that people want us to know that we do not walk this road alone and for this we are most grateful.
Again, thank you to all who donated, volunteered and attended to the 8th Annual Pasta Dinner for the Friends of Cystic Fibrosis and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We hope that there will be no need for the 9th Annual Pasta Dinner for Ben’s Dream Team and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation because a cure was found.
