            STATE HOUSE – To a lot of youth athletes, Sen. John J. Tassoni Jr. is a great sport and an outstanding supporter.

            Senator Tassoni (D-Dist. 22, Smithfield, North Smithfield), who has long been committed to youth athletics in his communities and around the state, was recently honored by three organizations for the help and support he’s given them.

            The Smithfield Little League Scholarship Golf Tournament honored Senator Tassoni for his outstanding support of the organization and its scholarship efforts.

            The Rhode Island Board of Girls Basketball Officials recognized Senator Tassoni for his support of the 21^st annual girls’ high school basketball Holiday Classic Tournament, which provides funding for scholar-athlete scholarships.

            He was also recognized by The Sentinel Striders in appreciation of his ongoing support for youth running programs and competitions in the state.

            “Organizations that support youth athletes and that provide scholarship funds for young student-athletes do remarkable work in our communities and across the state,” said Senator Tassoni. “I appreciate the recognition they’ve given to me for supporting their own outstanding efforts.”
